Both Recreational Aviation (RA) Australia and General Aviation (GA) operate under the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) in Australia. They are both heavily regulated organisations, who take safety seriously. You may see when you are flying or getting around the airport, 23- registered aircraft which operate under RA and VH- registered aircraft that operate under GA. There are a few differences, the key one being RA is exactly what it says, it is for recreational purposes and great for starting off in aviation by keeping aircraft easy to fly and costs low for you as the student. GA is where you may look to receive a licence to fly bigger aircraft for more private or commercial purposes.
